AMPHIBIANS and REPTILES of NORTHERN CYPRUS.
My research interest concern evolutionary and historical biogeography questions relating to the origin and distribution of genetic diversity and its conservation in natural populations of amphibians and reptiles . Special focus is placed into the Balkan Peninsula, one of the most important evolutionary areas in Europe. In parallel, it led to the the establishment of the first online herpetofauna mapping of this area in the project Balcanica. Besides that, I love traveling and photography.

Reptilien sind überaus interessante Tiere, die allerdings nicht gerade um Aufmerksamkeit heischen. Ihre hübsche Gestalt, ihr Leben und ihre Ansprüche sind daher nur Wenigen bekannt. In Deutschland sind 13 Reptilienarten heimisch. Die meisten von ihnen stehen auf der Roten Liste der gefährdeten Tiere. Die Aktivitäten für den Schutz von Reptilien stehen leider in keinem Verhältnis zu dieser starken Gefährdung. Man kann nur schützen, was man kennt und Reptilien brauchen Freunde.
